Parents and Students,
It was a great week and weekend for our students at PRHS. Thank you to our PTO/after prom comittee for putting on another great after prom. It was an fun event for students and was able to provide them a safe place to continue their prom experience with one another.
This week our seniors will have an incredible opportunity. State Supreme Court Justice Standridge, along with other state representatives, will be speaking to our students. This will be held Tuesday at the start of school.
I would like to remind senior parents that senior awards are quickly approaching. This will be held on the night on May 1st at 6PM. The PTO meeting that was originally scheduled for that Wednesday will be mored to May 8th.

Baseball and Softball
Baseball beat McLouth in both games this past week and softball lost both of the games they played. I have been impressed by the growth of both teams.
Thank you to PTO for putting on after prom, I know our students had a blast.
Congratulations to Mr. Gary Silvers being names our champion of character/staff member of the month. We are lucky to have Mr. Silvers at PRHS and proud of the work he does with students.
"Mr. Silvers makes school fun. He sacrifices so much for these students and they know how much he cares. He provides a creative outlet for kids who might not excel in other areas. He helps them gain self confidence in topics they enjoy and that confidence then spills over into other areas of their academics. Our family appreciaties him! He is one of a kind."

Dress code policy from student handbook: Neatness and decency are emphasized as guidelines for the dress code. Students must dress in a manner that is not obscene: offensive: or substantially or materially disruptive to the learning environment. Apparel that is sexually suggestive; promotes violence, illegal activities, drugs, alcohol, and/or tobacco; or is determined to be gang related is prohibited. The principal shall make the final determination regarding the appropriateness of a student’s appearance. Students who are inappropriately dressed will be required to cover up or change their clothing. The following are not permitted to be worn or used by students in the building: Hats, caps, sunglasses, chains, laser pointers, and cigarette lighters. Do not bring personal care items to class, such as hair brushes, makeup, etc. Do not bring any items or materials that can hurt or disturb staff or students. Any student involved in extra or co-curricular activity in which the student represents the district, shall dress in accordance with the sponsor’s requirements, subject to approval by the administration.
Vaping:
What is vaping? - Vaping is the act of inhaling a vapor that is produced by an electronic vaporizer or e-cigarette. The vapor comes from heating flavored liquids that may contain nicotine, marijuana/THC, cocaine, or other drugs. These flavored liquids release a very strong sweet smell into the air when vaporized.
What do vaping devices look like? -Vaporizers come in various shapes and sizes. The most common form we’ve seen is a Juul, which looks like an electronic flash drive that plugs into a USB port for charging. These devices can be quite small and can easily be concealed with normal backpack/school-related items.
Where are kids getting vaping devices? -Although it is illegal for stores to sell vaping items to anyone under 21, our students are getting their hands on them. Online purchasing without age verification, getting a device from a family member or friend, or buying them from random people all seem to be sources of distribution.
Consequences:
First Offense: Up to a one-day suspension.
Second Offense: Up to a three-day suspension and required conference with administrator.
Third Offense: Up to a five-day suspension and required conference with administrator.
Fourth Offense: Up to a long-term suspension, possible expulsion.
