Welcome to USD 449 and Pleasant Ridge High School.  We couldn’t be more excited about all the outstanding programs we have available to students in our school.  We have a dedicated teaching staff, committed to working with all of our students and helping them achieve to their highest level.

Pleasant Ridge High School serves the northeast area of Leavenworth County, Kansas, including the town of Easton and the surrounding countryside.  We currently have an enrollment of 255 students in grades 9-12.  We take pride in providing a well-rounded academic and activity program that fits the needs and expectations of our students and the patrons of the district.

We continue to excel in the areas of reading and math, as evidenced by the fact the high school was recognized as achieving the Standard of Excellence in both of these curricular areas by the Kansas State Department of Education.  This recognition was based on the results of state-mandated testing in reading and math, as required by No Child Left Behind.

In addition to the general course offerings at the high school, we offer courses for concurrent enrollment through Kansas City Kansas Community College and the University of St. Marys.  Students are able to earn college credit for coursework in Anatomy and Physiology, College Algebra, and English Composition and Literature.  We also offer classes in Advanced Placement American History and Advanced Placement Calculus.

We also have students who are enrolled in the Highland Community College Technical Center in Atchison.  These students may choose from a variety of vocational and/or health care fields and they are eligible to earn an Associate’s degree through Highland Community College.

We are fully immersed in two recent initiatives, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Common Core State Standards (CCSS).  The Kansas State Department of Education is fully supportive of both of these and our school district and high school have implemented a number of programs to help our students reach their full potential and be prepared for college or a career when they leave Pleasant Ridge High School.

We are proud of what we offer our students and we strive to make the entire high school experience as rewarding as possible for our students.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at ametsker@easton449.org, or 913-651-5556, ext. 201.
