Developing Kindergarten through twelfth grade curriculum is an ongoing process that involves teachers reviewing national and state curriculum standards and benchmarks, student achievement data and then determining what the student performance goals will be for each curriculum area. The annual Accountability Report is required by the Legislature and is intended to provide a snapshot of Kansas education for the most recently completed school year. The information provided in the Accountability Report is provided on a statewide basis and includes assessment results and trends, graduation and attendance rates, school violence rates and percentages of students passing advanced math and science courses. All of the information provided is disaggregated by race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Additional information is also provided, including a review of education legislation passed in the last legislative session, a look at the education workforce in the state and a summary of statewide demographics.
