The total budget for all funds for the 2008-2009 budget is $11,261,572. The general fund budget is $5,752,261 based on a student enrollment of 710 students. The supplemental general fund budget is $1,510,000, and Special Education fund is $1,276,784 the three largest funds in the 2008-2009 budget. The assessed valuation of the property in the USD #449 school district rose to $31,468,176 from the previous year’s $30,990,435, an increase of $477,741. Bond indebtedness for the two construction bond projects (Pleasant Ridge Elementary/Pleasant Ridge High School addition and Pleasant Ridge Middle School) declined $340,000 to $6,175,000.
To fund the budget, USD #449 taxpayers will pay $1,675,778, state of Kansas $6,427,732, federal sources are $195,116 with local transfers of $1,675,722,. Local transfers include $706,210 from the state of Kansas to fund the Leavenworth County Special Education Cooperative.
The mill levy to fund the 2008-2009 budget will be 53.636 mills, compared to last year’s levy of 52.801, an increase of .835 mill. The hyperlinks to review the budget publication and Budget at a Glance are listed below:
