Notes From Mr. Flynn

Parents and Students,

It was great to be back at school this week. We had 8th grade students come up for orientation this week. Thank you to our students and staff that helped make that a success.

Thank you to Mr. List for organizing our winter sports banquet. I appreciate all those who came out and supported our students.

This weekend we will be sending 8 students to the state powerlifting meet. The team qualified 11 athletes. Those students who qualified are. Julius Tolbert, John Kruid, Hunter Dooley, Cameron Perazzola, Brayden Roggenkamp, Austin Green, Jackson Maley, Lauren Mance, Alison Maley, Madison Lemke, and Cheyann Jarred.

Reminder that our 11th grade students will be taking the ACT next Tuesday. State Assessments are also quickly approaching. The 10th grade students will take the state Math and English assessment. 11th grade students will take the Science and HGSS (History, Government, Social Studies). I ask that you please have conversations with your child about the importance of taking these test seriously, and to give their best effort. We will take Math on April 2nd and 3rd. Science and English will be taken on April 9th and 10th.

Academic Spotlight-Yearbook

Ms. Webb and students have been hard at work in yearbook. Excitement filled the air in yearbook this week as the RamPage team huddled together flipping through each other's pages, designs, and layouts. Armed with pens and sticky notes, we began to dive into the memories captured within the book's pages. Laughter and chatter filled the room, as we shared our thoughts, each comment aimed at making our yearbook even better. We can't wait for our hard work and shared memories to be revealed to the entire school and community!

CoachesCorner

Softball games start on Tuesday at home against Marais des Cygnes Valley. The Lady Rams welcome 8 freshmen, Izzy Bryan, Aubrey Gillaspie, Alison Maley, Anna Walker, Kayelee Manning, Gabby Major, Haley Heim and Lucy Warden to join fellow newcomer Rogue Warden. Girls returning from last year are Meron Roe, Jill Douglas, Penny Witte, and Brooke Allison. The Lady Rams will be led by 2 time all conference center fielder and lone Senior Kelsi Ko. Kelsi is leading a team of greatly improved returnees along with a skilled newcomer group. Coach Basel stated that if this group continues to learn to work together it should be a fun team to watch that improves throughout the season and will be playing its best ball at the end of the season.

Student Handbook

Dress Code

Students must dress in a manner that is not obscene: offensive: or substantially or materially disruptive to the learning environment. The principal shall make the final determination regarding the appropriateness of a student’s appearance. Students who are inappropriately dressed will be required to cover up or change their clothing. The following are not permitted to be worn or used by students in the building: Hats, caps, sunglasses, chains, laser pointers, and cigarette lighters. Vaping information and policy

Vaping:

  1. What is vaping? - Vaping is the act of inhaling a vapor that is produced by an electronic vaporizer or e-cigarette. The vapor comes from heating flavored liquids that may contain nicotine, marijuana/THC, cocaine, or other drugs. These flavored liquids release a very strong sweet smell into the air when vaporized.

  2. What do vaping devices look like? -Vaporizers come in various shapes and sizes. The most common form we’ve seen is a Juul, which looks like an electronic flash drive that plugs into a USB port for charging. These devices can be quite small and can easily be concealed with normal backpack/school-related items.

  3. Where are kids getting vaping devices? -Although it is illegal for stores to sell vaping items to anyone under 21, our students are getting their hands on them. Online purchasing without age verification, getting a device from a family member or friend, or buying them from random people all seem to be sources of distribution.

Consequences:

  • First Offense: Up to a one-day suspension.

  • Second Offense: Up to a three-day suspension and required conference with administrator.

  • Third Offense: Up to a five-day suspension and required conference with administrator.

  • Fourth Offense: Up to a long-term suspension, possible expulsion.
